Her latest book, Let Love Be Genuine has been selling well and she recently completed a second printing of Ask Yourself : Am I a Good Friend? She took a few moments to tell us about her experiences with publishing...
The challenges I encountered were finding a quiet place to write and staying focused on what the spirit was speaking to me during all my ups and downs with my family.
The reaction to my book has been phenomenal. Ask Yourself : Am I a Good Friend, Ask yourself : Am I the Head and now Let Love be Genuine - all three books have given me the strength to keep writing. Let Love be Genuine is my latest book and it is selling too fast. I had to stop selling to keep books for my upcoming book signing at Berean Christian Stores. After the book signing I'm sure I will be ordering more books.
Yes, I have plans for future books, I'm currently writing two - 1. Satan's Playmate and 2. Renew - Change the Way You Think. I'm exciting about writing both these books. Satan's Playmate is talking about how we allow ourselves to be used by the adversary and Renew - Change the Way You Think is talking about how we can change our situation by the way we think.
The most exciting part about my publishing experience has been communicating with my publishing company and to incorporate my ideas with the publishing of my books.
My most interesting writing quirk would be the poetry I put in the back of each of my books.
My advice for first time authors is to stay focused on your dream. No matter how long it takes to get published, keep writing. Keep your eyes on the hills from which comes our help and listen to the spirit of God. If I can do it, so can you.
Anita Wright Graham is a Christian author with a talent for simply sharing the Word of God. Her books are short (less than 100 pages) but are packed with a passion for letting the light of Jesus shine through her. Her story is below and is followed by reviews of some of her books.
I was born in Alabama. I am the sibling of one brother, two sisters and one half brother. I was raised by one parent…my mom. I have one son name Robert Graham Jr. My father passed away when I was in 4th grade. I love to write, sing and spend quality time with my family. I graduated from high school and college.
I was saved at the age of 17 under the leadership of Rev. R.L.White Jr. at Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga. It was at a convention that I went to alone. The preacher was talking about Answering the Call of God. I remember saying I want to give my life to Christ so, when they opened the doors of the Church, I walked up and gave the preacher my hand and accepted Christ into my life. Ever since the age of 17, I have tried to let my light shine everywhere I go because I know how important it is, the price Jesus paid for me.
I started writing for Christ when I was young and reading Christian poetry but I wasn't doing anything with it but reading it to my mom and friends. It wasn’t until I heard a preacher speak through the car radio one Saturday morning,” What good is it writing and putting it on a shelf. God didn’t give you that talent to just box away. He wants you to publish it so others can read it and benefit from what God has given you to write.” I felt as though these words were just for me. It pierced my heart to the point it was all I could think about. I knew God was getting me ready for the next chapter of my life because I didn’t feel the same after hearing the preacher speak that Saturday morning on my way to work. I started praying and fasting until one day I heard a voice say. I want you to write for me and keep it simple. Always 100 pages or less and I will give you what to say. Ever since then, I have been writing and hoping to draw souls to the state of repentance and into the body of Christ.
This book, from Guardian Books, is a wonderful reminder about the true nature of love. It is a call to action, especially for husbands and fathers, to put their love into action. The book is loaded with sound biblical references and can spur us all on to show the world the genuine love of Jesus Christ. Most of the world sees the "false love" and many confuse lust with love but this teaching can help to restore our understanding of the debt of love that we all owe.
This book is a plea for men everywhere to ask themselves that question. She walks us through a man's relationship with God and how that is to affect his relationship with his family. The plea is first for men to accept the Lord Jesus Christ and then to allow God to work to change them into the men he created them to be. It is a good read for men of all ages and a reminder of our responsibilities.
